Day 2: Transfer to Hilton Batang Ai Resort, en route stopping at a Dayak trading town, a pepper and cocoa farm. Rain Forests of Sarawak - 6 Day/5 Night
Day 2: Breakfast at the Hotel then depart for 4 Day / 3 Night Batang Ai Adventure Tour from Kuching by air-conditioned van or car, approximately 166 miles from Kuching City, passing through scenic countryside consisting of quaint little towns, villages, padi fields, pepper and oil palm plantations interspersed with secondary and virgin jungle as the road starts to wind and undulate as you go deeper into the interior. Upon arrival at the Hydro Lake at Lubok Antu you will board a motorized native longboat for approximately 1-½ hours depending on the water level of the Delok River. Like many rivers in the interior of Sarawak, the Delok River cuts right through the heart of Sarawak’s rainforest. Arrive at Jambu Longhouse where families of the Batang Ai’s Iban tribe live under one roof. Observe and experience at close hand the traditional and communal lifestyle of the inhabitants who still spin cotton, weave the pua (traditional cloth), hunt with blowpipes, dance to the music of the gongs and drink tuak (rice wine). One of the highlight of the tour is an evening entertainment by the people of longhouse as they perform traditional dances to the beat of the gongs and drums. Depart Jambu Longhouse for 3 Day / 2 Night trekking into the jungle into the jungle of Batang Ai accompanied by experienced Iban trackers. The journey takes you deeper into the jungle and onto steeper and higher terrain of between 3000’ to 5000’ above sea level. It is an area close to the Indonesian border. Sarawak Experience Tour - 8 Day/7 Night
Day 2: Breakfast at the Hotel and then departure for a 3 Day/2Night Deluxe Batang Ai Tour. Depart from Kuching by air-conditioned van / coach for Hilton Batang Ai Resort, 166 miles from Kuching City, passing through scenic countryside consisting of quaint little towns, villages, padi fields, pepper and oil palm plantations interspersed with secondary and virgin jungle as the road starts to wind and undulate as you go deeper into the interior. Arrive at the Hydro Lake at Lubok Antu. Board a shuttle ferry for the resort situated on the southern bank. Dinner and accommodation at the resort. Day 3: Breakfast at the Resort. After breakfast depart by longboat to Meyeng Sedi longhouse for a guided tour of this 18 room communal longhouse, where approximately 18 families of the Iban tribe live under one roof. It is literally a whole village on stilt, situated on the riverbank of one of the many tributaries of the Batang Ai River amidst virgin jungle. Observe the weaving and handcrafting skills of the Ibans as they work on the “ruai”, a long communal verandah that stretches the entire length of the longhouse. Enjoy a short cultural performance by the inhabitant of the longhouse followed later on by a blowpipe demonstration. Lunch will be served at a waterfall situated not more than 5 minutes boat ride from the longhouse. You will however be require too trek for approximately 10 minutes to the waterfall from the banks of the river. (Bring along your swimsuit) Later on in the afternoon return back to the Resort via the same route for Dinner and Accommodation. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Cruise down the Santubong River to the open sea and by-pass mangrove swamp, fishing village and resorts located below Mt. Santubong. Proceed on to the South China Sea to Satang or turtle Island. Satang Island is one of the three islands protected by the government for its turtles to lay their eggs. Satang Island is renowned for its widest variety of soft corals and vast range of marine life. Snorkelers can enjoy a combined holiday of their sports and tours of this beautiful paradise island of Satang. Picnic lunch will be served by the beach. Packed lunch and soft drinks will be served at the bats’ observatory before exploring the cave. Explore the cave and take time to enjoy the “Garden of Eden” before returning to the main entrance. Proceed to Lang Cave. At Lang Cave you will see some of the world’s most spectacular stalactites, flow rocks, helitite and rock corals. In the evening return to the Deer Cave to observe the millions of bats flying out of the caves during fine weather. Experience night jungle walk through tropical rain forest. The Natural History of Sarawak - 6 Day/5 Night:
Day 2: Breakfast at the Hotel and depart for 3 day/2 night Bako National Park situated about 38km from Kuching on the Muara Tebas peninsular at the mouth of the Sarawak River, can be reached by car and longboat in 1 ½ hours. The Park is the botanical treasure with as many as 25 different type of vegetation’s. It is also home to numerous species of birds, snakes and animals such as proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaques, wild boars, sambar deer and monitor lizards. Sixteen well-demarcated paths with the park can be followed without any difficulty or fear of getting lost. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Day 3: Depart for dawn walk on the Telok Delima trail which is a very short trail inside the mangrove. This trail is one of the several spot to watch proboscis monkeys. After the dawn walk return to the rest house for breakfast and a rest before departing for trekking through more of the trails available at Bako with pack lunch provided. Dinner and accommodation at the park chalet. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Day 4: Breakfast at the Rest house and then depart for Kuching via the same route and proceed to Damai with a lunch stop on the way at a local Seafood Restaurant before continuing your journey on to visit the Sarawak Cultural Village. Located about 35km from the city was built on a 17-acre site, next to a scenic man-made lake. The village boasts seven ethnic houses representative of the Malay, the Chinese, the Penan and the longhouses of the Bidayuh, Iban, Orang Ulu and the Melanau. Browse around the village and observe the inhabitants of the various houses display their skills in making traditional handicrafts such as beading, wood-carving, bamboo-carving, pua-weaving, etc. You can also view traditional methods of making sago, crushing sugar cane and how the Penans make blowpipes and other hunting instruments. The tour includes a colorful cultural performance in a modern air-conditioned theatre. After the tour you will be transfer to your hotel. Breakfast and lunch included. Day 5: Breakfast at the hotel and then depart for Kuching for a day trip to the Gunung Gading National Park to view the Rafflesia, the world’s largest flower. The spectacular Rafflesia tuanmudae (Bunga palma) which at full bloom stretchers nearly one meter in width. However there is no specific flowering season and each flower bloom will last only a few days. Situated about 120kms from Kuching, the journey passes through dense, luxuriant rainforest, padi fields, small roadside towns and kampongs. Packed lunch will be provided with this tour. Observe the primitive hematite drawing on the walls of Painted Cave and bird nest collectors climbing flimsy scaffoldings to reach the nests. On arrival, you will proceed to Sepilok to visit the Orang Utan rehabilitation Centre to witness feeding of Orang Utans. Walk along a nature trail to look for other animals. Learn about the efforts taken to train these animals to be self-reliance again. Lunch and visit some of the prominent sites such as Central Market, Chinese Temple, Water Village and Observation Pavilion to view Sandakan Town.
